ELIGIBILITY

To successfully transfer to UNSW at the end of the second year, the student must fulfill specific academic and language benchmarks: a student must complete 4 semesters at Thapar with a minimum cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 7.3 on a 10-point scale. Students must clear all foundational course prerequisites before the transfer can be authorized. An overall score of 6.5 with no individual sub-band below 6.0. (Meeting this specific IELTS score waives any secondary internal UNSW English requirements)

APPLICATION PROCESS

Admission to the undergraduate 2+2 IEP typically begins in the first semester, in accordance with TIET admission norms. After the third semester, students can apply through a streamlined process via the Aston Applicant Portal, supported by a dedicated partnership team to ensure a smooth transfer. For the Postgraduate pathway, applications are routed through the Global Office.

“3+1+1” Bachelor’s-to-Accelerated Master’s (BAM) Pathway

Operating as a 2+2 credit transfer model, students complete their foundational years in TIET before transferring to Sydney to graduate with an elite Australian degree. Students complete the first 2 years (4 semesters) of their Bachelor of Engineering at TIET. Upon meeting the credittransfer requirements, UNSW grants a maximum permissible transfer of 96 Units of Credit (UoC)—the exact equivalent of 2 academic years. The students then complete their final 2 years at UNSW to graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from UNSW. Programme: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Computer, Mechatronics, Mechanical
